I know the word 'Lame' has been overused since 2003, but it just occurs to me in several ways that Singapore has an affinity with the mentioned word.
Lame.
My stand, is that while established countries like Australia and USA etc are competing internationally in the Olympics and Commonwealth games, Singapore, who wants to be just as developed and reputable as these countries are competing in matters far from glorious.
YOU THINK WINNING THE WORLD CYBER GAMES AND HAVING THE CLEANEST TOILET VERY GLAMOUROUS AH!?Lame. They have the talent to swim, to sprint, to cycle, to skate, to surf, to jump. We have the talent to blog, to eat, to sleep, to talk, to clean toilets, to queue up for sales. Ever wondered why Taiwan's president compared us to a drop of spit? Maybe it's because we are really worth a drop of spit.
Even third world, fourth world countries like Nigeria and Kenya can win something in the Olympics(marathon and distance running). Singapore, stage four on Rostow's model of development status, is incapable of doing something that a country where starvation and malnutrition are rampant is capable of. What in the strawberry shortcakes is the Singapore Sports School for?

To establish the fact that we are trying to achieve something too far from our reach. Out of our league.
Truth is, we are short of resources. Nothing new, no surprise here.
Let's say, if we were to hone talents for marathon or distance running, they would have to run around the local perimeters twice to actually achieve a mean feat. And half way through the route, the 'Lame' auxillary police might stop you for insanity or indecent exposure(shorts too short).
Let's say, if we were to hone talents for swimming, which we already are, many 'kiasu' parents will start administering their pre-pubescent kids for swimming lessons. Very soon, private and public pools will be filled to the brim, with people. Then we would have to use the seas, and pollute the waters further with bodily fluids. Then we will move internally to the water catchment areas and swim with sediments and residue in the reservoirs.
Resources and talents, where art thou?
